New Public Service Commissioners Appointed in Namibia. Michael Mutonga and Hâbatte Doëses were sworn in as the newest commissioners of Namibia’s Public Service Commission (PSC) during a ceremony held in the capital on Thursday.
Mutonga, who currently chairs the Lotteries Board of Namibia, and Doëses, a seasoned public administrator, were appointed to fill vacancies left by previous commissioners, including Florence Munyungano, who retired after 15 years of service.
The PSC, which advises the president and government on public service matters, plays a vital role in shaping Namibia’s civil service. Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila congratulated the new appointees, emphasizing the importance of their roles in addressing the country’s evolving public service challenges.
Mutonga brings valuable experience, having previously served as the director of administration at the National Planning Commission. Doëses, who has held senior roles in public administration, including as the chief regional officer of Erongo Regional Council, holds a master’s degree in public administration. Both commissioners are expected to contribute significantly to the ongoing development of Namibia’s public service sector.
