Power Outage Triggers Network Disruptions Across Parts of Kunene RRegion. Telecom Namibia has confirmed a significant network disruption affecting both fixed and mobile services in parts of the Kunene Region, following a power outage that has impacted telecommunications infrastructure in the area.
In a notice issued to customers, the company stated that the outage has resulted in service degradation and, in some locations, a temporary loss of connectivity. The disruption affects customers who rely on both fixed-line and mobile communication services, with the extent of the impact varying across different areas of the region.
Telecom Namibia said its technical teams are responding with urgency and are working closely to restore services as quickly as possible. The company acknowledged the inconvenience caused to customers and appealed for patience while recovery efforts continue.
The power outage was identified as the direct cause of the network disruption, highlighting the reliance of telecommunications infrastructure on consistent electricity supply. No timeframe for full service restoration was provided in the notice.
Customers requiring assistance or further information were advised to contact Telecom Namibia’s Customer Contact Centre by dialing 11000. Support is also available via WhatsApp on 085 211 1111, providing an alternative channel for customers seeking updates or reporting service-related issues during the disruption.
Telecom Namibia emphasised its commitment to maintaining reliable communication services and responding promptly to service interruptions when they occur. The company reiterated that restoring connectivity remains a priority, particularly for communities that depend on telecommunications for business, education and essential services.
The Kunene Region, which includes both urban and rural areas, relies on telecommunications connectivity for daily communication and access to services. Disruptions of this nature can affect a range of activities, from personal communication to commercial operations.
Telecom Namibia management concluded its notice by apologising to affected customers for the inconvenience and thanking them for their understanding. Customers have been encouraged to remain in contact with the company through the provided channels for ongoing updates until normal service levels are fully restored.
