O&L Donation Boosts Namibia’s National Cancer Response Efforts. Namibia’s Ministry of Health and Social Services has received a N$500,000 donation from the Ohlthaver & List Group to support the country’s response to cancer. The contribution comes as national health authorities continue to prioritise prevention, early detection, and treatment of the disease.
The announcement was made ahead of World Cancer Day, observed annually on 4 February. Health officials say the donation will contribute to ongoing efforts to strengthen cancer-related services and improve outcomes for patients across the country.
The Minister of Health and Social Services emphasised that cancer prevention and control must remain urgent national priorities. She highlighted the importance of increased public awareness, the promotion of healthier lifestyles, and the expansion of screening programmes for breast, cervical, prostate, and colorectal cancers.
The Ministry is currently finalising Namibia’s National Cancer Control Programme, which is expected to be completed by June 2026. The programme is intended to guide coordinated action on cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and support services. In addition, the Ministry is hosting an ImPACT Mission this week in collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency and the World Health Organization. The mission aims to assess and strengthen the country’s national cancer control capacity.
Officials noted that the Ohlthaver & List Group’s support extends beyond financial assistance, contributing to broader goals of improving access to care and strengthening health systems. The Ministry expressed appreciation for the donation, describing it as a meaningful contribution toward advancing cancer care in Namibia.
Health authorities say partnerships between the public and private sectors play an important role in addressing complex health challenges and supporting long-term national health priorities.
