NUST Launches Namibia’s First Bachelor of Actuarial Science Programme. The Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) has announced the launch of the country’s first Bachelor of Actuarial Science (Honours) programme, offering a new pathway for students with strong analytical and quantitative skills.
The programme, accredited at NQF Level 8, is designed to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of Actuarial Science, Statistics, Finance, and Risk Management. It aims to prepare graduates for careers in insurance, investment, financial services, and risk assessment, sectors where analytical expertise is in high demand.
NUST officials highlighted that the programme targets highly motivated students who demonstrate strong numerical and problem-solving abilities. By combining theoretical knowledge with practical applications, the course is structured to provide graduates with skills relevant to both national and regional employment markets.
Prospective students are encouraged to submit their applications ahead of the deadline on Wednesday, 04 February 2026. Application forms and further details are available on the NUST website at https://www.nust.na/admissions#appforms.
The introduction of this programme represents a milestone in Namibia’s higher education landscape, addressing a growing demand for skilled professionals in actuarial and financial fields. NUST aims to strengthen local expertise while creating opportunities for students to pursue international certification and professional recognition in the actuarial profession.
By offering specialized training in risk modelling, financial analysis, and statistical methods, the programme supports Namibia’s broader economic development objectives, providing a talent pipeline for industries reliant on data-driven decision making.
NUST encourages interested students to explore this opportunity and position themselves for careers in a dynamic and highly specialised field. The university noted that the programme will complement its existing offerings in finance, mathematics, and data analytics, contributing to the country’s capacity to meet emerging industry demands.
