New Windhoek–Rehoboth Bypass Opens to Traffic Following Swift Completion

New Windhoek–Rehoboth Bypass Opens to Traffic Following Swift Completion. The Roads Authority has announced the official opening of the newly completed two-lane bypass along the B1 route between Windhoek and Rehoboth. The new road section was delivered just one month after construction commenced, marking a notably swift execution of the project.

Constructed by China Railway Seventh Group, with technical consultancy provided by Lithon Namibia, the project was overseen and coordinated by the Roads Authority. The bypass aims to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion on one of Namibia’s busiest national roads, which serves as a vital link between the capital and the southern regions.

While the new infrastructure is expected to enhance road safety and travel efficiency, motorists are advised to proceed with caution as they become familiar with the new route. The Roads Authority has emphasized the importance of adhering to posted speed limits and signage, particularly during the adjustment period.

The swift completion of the bypass reflects strong collaboration between the contractor, consultant, and Roads Authority. The newly opened lanes are expected to support the growing volume of traffic between Windhoek and Rehoboth, offering a safer and more efficient alternative for daily commuters and freight transporters alike.

Motorists are encouraged to remain alert and patient while navigating the updated road layout. The Roads Authority will continue to monitor the area to ensure smooth integration of the bypass into the existing traffic system.
