NamPower Boosts Rural Education with Vehicle Donations. In a continued effort to uplift Namibia’s education sector, NamPower has donated three vehicles to schools in underserved regions, enhancing access and mobility for learners and staff. The handover took place on 20 May 2025.
The beneficiaries of the donation include Green Leaves Primary School in the Khomas Region, Aranos Primary School in the Hardap Region, and Onguti Secondary School in the Oshikoto Region. Green Leaves and Aranos received Quantum mini-buses to support learner transportation, while Onguti Secondary was provided with a double cab vehicle to assist with administrative and logistical duties.
NamPower stated that the initiative responds to ongoing challenges faced by schools, especially in rural areas, where transport difficulties contribute to high dropout rates and limit student participation in academic and extracurricular activities.
The donation is part of NamPower’s broader commitment to education, with over N$30 million contributed to the sector since 2018. Support has included infrastructure development, computers, stationery, and furniture across all 14 regions.
Expressing her appreciation, Aranos Primary School Principal Sylvia Johannes committed to maximizing the vehicle’s impact on learners. Josefina Asheeke, Principal of Green Leaves Primary, highlighted how the donation would allow learners to participate in sports and cultural events, helping shape their future.
Education Inspector Robert Dishena, who closed the ceremony, emphasized that quality education requires collective effort and encouraged other companies to support community development.
