In their tournament opener on 7 August, Namibia edged out Chinese Taipei with a thrilling 4–3 win. Forward Christiaan Coetzee (#21) opened the scoring just 90 seconds into the game, but Chinese Taipei responded with a hat-trick to take control of the first half. Unfazed, Namibia clawed back with two crucial goals from Keanan Simpson (#45), including a dramatic equaliser. Goalkeeper Ari van der Plas delivered a standout performance, keeping the scoreline tight before Coetzee netted the game-winner late in the match.

Riding high on momentum, Namibia returned to the rink today (8 August) to face host nation China. In what proved to be a high-tempo and tightly contested encounter, Namibia came out on top with a 5–3 victory. Coetzee again led the offensive charge, scoring twice with assists from Amandus Röttcher and Josua Zeferinu. Sean Liechti added a goal, assisted by JW Coetzee, while Theo Borstlap found the net off another assist by JW Coetzee. Röttcher sealed the win with a calm empty-net goal in the final minute.

These back-to-back wins mark a historic milestone for Namibian inline hockey, showcasing the team’s growing skill and confidence on the international stage.

Namibia is now preparing to face Team USA tomorrow, 9 August, at 11:00 Namibian time — a match that promises to test the team’s grit and momentum.
