Namibia to Host 2025 Global Policy Forum on Financial Inclusion in Swakopmund. The Bank of Namibia (BoN), in collaboration with the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI), has officially announced that the 2025 Global Policy Forum (GPF) will be hosted in Swakopmund from 2–5 September 2025. This marks the first time the internationally recognised event will be held on Namibian soil.
Under the theme “Empowering Society, Enabling Growth,” this year’s Forum will focus on reimagining inclusive development and advancing people-centered innovation in financial policy. The event reaffirms Namibia’s growing role in shaping global financial inclusion conversations.
The GPF is the world’s leading platform for financial regulators, central bankers, and development leaders from emerging economies. It annually attracts over 700 high-level delegates from more than 90 countries, including Finance Ministers, Governors of Central Banks, and representatives from global financial institutions and the private sector.
Governor of the Bank of Namibia, Johannes !Gawaxab, stated: “Namibia is poised to welcome the world. The 2025 GPF will showcase not only our national policy progress but our commitment to financial inclusion as a pillar for economic resilience and inclusive prosperity.”
The Forum will feature high-level policy discussions, networking sessions, and side events covering a range of pressing issues — including gender-inclusive finance, MSME development, digital public infrastructure, green finance, and climate-resilient economic policy.
Preparations for the event are at an advanced stage, with the host city and official theme now finalised. The Bank says the event presents a significant opportunity to highlight Namibia’s leadership in promoting sustainable and inclusive finance.
