Namibia Empowers Youth as Green Hydrogen Ambassadors. Approximately 30 young leaders from all 14 regions of Namibia have officially been recognised as Green Hydrogen Youth Ambassadors, following a certificate ceremony held at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) on Friday. The initiative aims to equip Namibia’s youth with the knowledge and skills needed to drive the country’s transition to green hydrogen, a key component of its sustainable energy future.
The programme is designed to prepare the next generation of leaders to champion renewable energy projects, promote sustainability, and advocate for innovative solutions that align with Namibia’s green hydrogen ambitions. By engaging young Namibians from diverse regions, the initiative seeks to foster a broad base of informed advocates who can influence communities, industry, and policy.
Participants in the programme underwent training and workshops focused on green hydrogen technology, sustainable energy practices, and the socio-economic benefits of the sector. Through these sessions, the youth ambassadors gained insights into how green hydrogen can contribute to job creation, skills development, and Namibia’s energy independence.
The initiative also underscores the importance of involving youth in national development strategies, particularly in emerging sectors such as renewable energy. By equipping young leaders with practical knowledge and networks, Namibia is positioning its youth as active participants in the country’s energy transition and economic growth.
The certificate ceremony at NUST marked a milestone in the country’s efforts to cultivate youth-driven leadership in the green hydrogen sector. As these ambassadors return to their communities, they are expected to raise awareness, promote sustainability practices, and support local initiatives that advance Namibia’s clean energy agenda.
This programme demonstrates Namibia’s commitment to inclusive and forward-looking energy strategies, ensuring that young people play a central role in shaping the nation’s sustainable future.
