Namibia Completes Historic US$750 Million Eurobond Redemption, Strengthening Fiscal Credibility. Namibia has successfully redeemed its second Eurobond, valued at US$750 million, marking the largest single debt maturity in the country’s history. The bond, originally issued in 2015 with a 5.25% coupon, represented Namibia’s second foray into the international capital markets following its 2011 debut.

The Ministry of Finance and Public Enterprises confirmed that the redemption aligns with Namibia’s sovereign debt management strategy, which prioritizes sustainability, fiscal responsibility, and the timely servicing of external obligations. Over the years, Namibia accumulated reserves through its dedicated sinking fund to ensure the smooth repayment of the Eurobond upon maturity.

In addition to the sinking fund, the government mobilized supplementary financing from local institutions, enabling the country to settle the Eurobond in full without disruption. This strategic move also contributed to a meaningful reduction in the foreign currency exposure of Namibia’s overall debt portfolio, enhancing financial resilience against external shocks.
