MTC 4 Life Invests N$3.5 Million in Skills Training for Namibian Youth. Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) has reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment through its flagship MTC 4 Life programme, investing a total of N$3.5 million to train 131 young Namibians in practical vocational skills aimed at reducing youth unemployment.
Now in its latest phase, the programme has enrolled 40 new candidates who are undergoing three weeks of hands-on training in various trades including upholstery, hairdressing, barbering, carpentry, welding, electricity and solar installation, and brick manufacturing.
Training sessions are currently being held simultaneously in Ondangwa, Katima Mulilo, Swakopmund, and Windhoek, with a focus on equipping participants with income-generating skills that are in high demand in their respective communities.
MTC stated that the 4 Life initiative is part of its broader corporate social investment strategy, designed to build self-reliance, promote entrepreneurship, and create employment pathways for youth. The programme targets young people who may not have had access to formal education or employment opportunities but show strong potential for growth when given the right support.
The initiative has received positive feedback for its direct, skills-based approach to tackling unemployment and social exclusion. As MTC continues to expand the programme’s reach, more young Namibians are expected to benefit from future training cycles.
