Mariental Councillor Donates School Shoes to Support Learners at D.D. Guibeb Primary. Mariental councillor William Minni has donated school shoes valued at N$3 000 to learners at D.D. Guibeb Primary School, using funds from his first seating allowance since assuming office.

The donation was officially handed over during a brief ceremony at the school, attended by learners, educators, and local leadership. Minni said the gesture was intended to support schoolchildren and contribute to creating a more enabling learning environment.

Addressing teachers and learners during the handover, Minni encouraged them not to lose hope and to remain focused on education despite challenges. He emphasised the importance of perseverance and commitment, particularly among young learners.

The councillor was accompanied by Mariental Mayor Ethel Isaacks and the municipality’s management chairperson, Hermanus Isaaks, who witnessed the donation. Their presence underscored the municipality’s support for initiatives aimed at assisting vulnerable learners within the town.

Mayor Isaacks welcomed the donation and noted that access to basic school necessities plays an important role in supporting attendance and participation in learning. She confirmed that the municipality has identified an additional 50 learners within Mariental who will receive school uniforms and stationery during the course of the month.

According to the mayor, the identification process was carried out by her office in collaboration with relevant stakeholders to ensure that assistance reaches learners most in need. The planned distribution forms part of ongoing efforts to support education and learner welfare in the town.

School officials expressed appreciation for the donation, noting that school shoes remain a critical need for many learners. The support was described as timely and helpful in easing the burden on affected families.

The initiative highlights a broader focus on community-driven support for education in Mariental, with local leaders playing an active role in addressing learners’ basic needs.
