Health Ministry Offers Free Screenings and HPV Vaccine Awareness at Totem Expo 2025. The Ministry of Health and Social Services is actively participating in the Totem Expo 2025, currently underway in Oshakati and running until June 7. The Ministry is using the platform to provide free health screenings and raise awareness about important public health initiatives.
Visitors to the Ministry’s exhibition stand are receiving complimentary checks for blood pressure, blood sugar, and other basic health indicators. These screenings are part of a broader effort to promote early detection and encourage preventive healthcare among the Namibian population.
In addition to offering services, health professionals on-site are engaging with the public and sharing crucial health information on a range of topics. One of the key areas of focus this year is the national rollout of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine.
The HPV vaccine is being introduced as a preventative measure against cervical cancer, a leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women in Namibia. The campaign targets girls between the ages of 9 and 14, aiming to protect them from the disease before they are exposed to the virus.
The Ministry is inviting all Totem Expo attendees to stop by their stand, access free health services, and engage in meaningful conversations about their well-being. The initiative reflects the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to accessible healthcare and proactive community outreach.
