Gobabis Career Fair Highlights Skills and Pathways for Youth Empowerment

Gobabis Career Fair Highlights Skills and Pathways for Youth Empowerment. The Gobabis Vocational Training Centre (GVTC) joined forces with the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture and the Omaheke Regional Council to host a career fair at the Gobabis Show Grounds on 23 February 2026. Held under the theme “Empowering youth for a bright future: Skills, Opportunities and Pathways,” the event brought together learners, out-of-school youth, training providers, and industry stakeholders to explore education and training opportunities that unlock real career pathways.

Delivering the keynote address, Deputy Minister Hon. Dino Balotti underscored the importance of skills development in shaping Namibia’s future. “When we invest in skills development, we invest in opportunity, dignity and economic growth. Our young people must not only dream about their futures — they must be equipped with the practical skills and pathways to build them,” he said.

The fair provided a platform for young people to engage directly with training institutions and employers, offering insights into technical and vocational education, career readiness, and industry expectations. By connecting learners with opportunities, the initiative aims to bridge the gap between education and employment, ensuring that youth are better prepared to contribute to national development.

The Namibia Training Authority (NTA) reaffirmed its commitment to expanding access to quality Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) across all regions. Strengthening partnerships with institutions like GVTC remains central to empowering youth and promoting inclusive growth.

The career fair highlighted the role of collaboration between government, training providers, and industry in building a skilled workforce. By focusing on practical skills and career pathways, the event reinforced the message that Namibia’s future prosperity depends on equipping its youth with the tools to succeed.
