City of Windhoek Honors Mr. Haimbili Ndimulunde After 37 Years of Service

City of Windhoek Honors Mr. Haimbili Ndimulunde After 37 Years of Service. The City of Windhoek commemorated Workers’ Day on 30 April 2025 by paying tribute to Mr. Haimbili Ndimulunde, who officially retired after 37 years of service.

Mr. Ndimulunde began his career with the municipality as a casual worker and was permanently appointed on 19 January 1988 as a trench digger. Over the years, he steadily rose through the ranks, eventually serving as an Electrical Trade Hand — a position he held until retirement.

Known for his strong work ethic and unwavering punctuality, Mr. Ndimulunde never arrived late for duty and was often seen at work before the official start time. His dedication earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and supervisors alike.

At the farewell ceremony, Acting CEO and Strategic Executive for Finance, Ms. Jennifer Comalie, thanked Mr. Ndimulunde for his consistent service. “Field workers like you may not always be in the spotlight, but your work speaks volumes. We see and appreciate it,” she said.

The Strategic Executive for the Electricity Department, Mr. O’Brien Hekandjo, also praised Mr. Ndimulunde, calling his contribution vital. “Restoring power during the night is no small task. We thank him and his family, especially his wife, for the support given during his many years of service,” he added.

His foreman, Mr. Henry Smith, recalled their working relationship since 2000, describing Mr. Ndimulunde as dependable, respectful, and humorous — a true team player.

In his farewell speech, Mr. Ndimulunde expressed gratitude to God, his parents, and City of Windhoek colleagues. Fondly remembered for selling fat cakes at work, he said, “Though I may not be with you daily, I’ll always be part of this family.”
