Bank of Namibia Welcomes Ebson Uanguta as Seventh Governor. The Bank of Namibia has formally congratulated Mr Ebson Uanguta following his appointment as the seventh Governor of the central bank by President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah.

In a statement, the Bank said the Board, Management and Staff have expressed their full institutional support for Mr Uanguta as he assumes office and takes on responsibility for leading the institution into its next phase. The appointment marks a leadership transition at the apex of Namibia’s monetary authority.

The Bank of Namibia noted that the Governor plays a central role in overseeing the institution’s mandate, which includes maintaining price stability, promoting a sound financial system and supporting sustainable economic development. As Governor, Mr Uanguta will preside over the Bank’s policy direction and represent the institution in engagements with national, regional and international stakeholders.

The Board acknowledged the confidence placed in Mr Uanguta through his appointment by the President and affirmed its readiness to work closely with him in the execution of the Bank’s responsibilities. Management and staff similarly indicated their commitment to supporting the Governor in carrying out his duties.

The Bank described the appointment as an important moment in its institutional journey, underscoring the importance of continuity, professionalism and collective effort in fulfilling its mandate. The statement highlighted that effective leadership and cooperation across all levels of the institution remain essential as the Bank navigates an evolving economic and financial environment.

Mr Uanguta takes office as the seventh Governor since the establishment of the Bank of Namibia, joining a line of leaders who have guided the institution since its inception. The Bank did not provide further details regarding the timing of his assumption of duties or planned engagements.
