The gathering brought together Ministers, Deputy Ministers, and Executive Directors to deliberate on strengthening financial governance, accountability, and long-term planning for Namibia’s development.

In his presentation, Deputy Governor Uanguta outlined the central bank’s mandate and monetary policy framework, underscoring its role in maintaining price stability and safeguarding financial sector soundness. He also provided a review of current economic conditions, while highlighting emerging global and domestic challenges, including the effects of US tariffs on Namibia’s trade balance.

These include the commencement of gold accumulation as part of its reserves management strategy to enhance resilience, the transformation of the financial sector to increase access and improve delivery of affordable and relevant services, and progress on key strategic areas that reinforce Namibia’s economic stability.

The workshop served as a platform for dialogue on the intersection between fiscal and monetary policy, with the Bank of Namibia emphasizing its position as a reliable partner in shaping a forward-looking financial system. By highlighting both opportunities and risks, the central bank reaffirmed its commitment to contributing towards sustainable economic growth and sound financial governance.

The Ministry of Finance and the National Planning Commission noted the importance of such engagements in ensuring that government strategies are backed by strong policy coordination and financial discipline.
