Bank of Namibia Governor Engages in Global Dialogue on Jobs and Development

Bank of Namibia Governor Engages in Global Dialogue on Jobs and Development. The Governor of the Bank of Namibia, Mr. Johannes !Gawaxab, is currently attending the 2025 Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund (IMF), held in Washington, D.C. The meetings, which run from April 21 to 26, are focused on the theme “Jobs – The Path to Prosperity.”

The annual Spring Meetings gather central bank governors, finance ministers, development experts, and private sector representatives from around the world to deliberate on pressing global economic issues and development challenges.

Mr. !Gawaxab has joined fellow leaders in high-level discussions centred on inclusive job creation, a critical area of focus for both Namibia and the broader international community. The talks explored strategies for fostering employment, enhancing workforce participation, and addressing structural barriers that hinder economic opportunity, particularly in developing and emerging economies.

The Governor’s engagement aligns with the Bank of Namibia’s mandate to promote financial and economic stability while supporting the country’s long-term development goals. Inclusive job creation is seen as a key component of sustainable economic growth, and the Bank has continued to support initiatives that enhance skills development, innovation, and productivity.

Participation in the Spring Meetings also allows Namibia to contribute to and benefit from global economic dialogue, exchange policy insights, and strengthen international cooperation. This year’s theme reflects the growing recognition that employment is central to building resilient economies and improving livelihoods.

The meetings will conclude on April 26, with leaders expected to reaffirm their commitments to shared global goals, including reducing inequality and expanding economic opportunities through coordinated action.
