Aimwata and Haufiku Lead the Pack at Vivo Energy Windhoek Marathon 2025. Ottilie Kaunapawa Aimwata and Ebock Haufiku claimed top honors at the 2025 Vivo Energy Windhoek Marathon, finishing first in the 42.2 km women’s and men’s categories, respectively.
Aimwata crossed the finish line in a time of 02:59:04, while Haufiku completed the challenging course in 02:48:00. Both runners showcased exceptional endurance and determination in a competition that brought together thousands of participants and spectators.
The podium in the women’s marathon was rounded off by Alina Armas, who came in second, and Beata Naigambo, who secured third place. In the men’s division, Thatayaone Kelapile and Tengeni Sakaria earned second and third places, respectively.
Beyond the main marathon, participants competed in various categories including junior, veteran, master, senior, wheelchair, and visually impaired divisions, highlighting the inclusive nature of the event. Among them, Saartjie Hanganeni Ausiku, representing the City of Windhoek, stood out by finishing third in the veteran 21 km category.
The marathon, now in its third year, was hosted at Vegkop Stadium at Windhoek High School, drawing more than 40,000 participants from across Namibia and beyond. Organised under the banner of Vivo Energy Namibia, the event continues to grow as a celebration of athleticism, community, and perseverance.
The Windhoek Marathon has steadily established itself as one of the country’s premier long-distance running events, offering both seasoned runners and amateurs a chance to test their limits.
