Real Madrid Foundation Football Clinic Launched in Oshakati

Real Madrid Foundation Football Clinic Launched in OOshakati. The Real Madrid Foundation Football Clinic for primary school learners was officially launched today at the Oshakati Independence Stadium, marking a significant milestone in youth development and sports promotion in Namibia.

The clinic is implemented through a partnership between the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture (MEIYSAC), the Namibia School Sport Union (NSSU), Cadilu Fishing Pty Ltd, and the Real Madrid Foundation. Its goal is to empower young people through football while promoting discipline, teamwork, leadership, social inclusion, and healthy lifestyles.

The opening ceremony brought together government officials, regional and local authority representatives, sports administrators, teachers, coaches, and learners from schools across the Oshana Region. Speaking on behalf of the Mayor of Oshakati, Deputy Mayor Cllr. Mariana Amakali welcomed participants and expressed appreciation to the Ministry and its partners for bringing the initiative to the town. She emphasised football’s power to unite communities, inspire dreams, and instil values such as teamwork, respect, and perseverance.

Representing the Oshana Regional Education Director, Mr. Aaron Immanuel, Principal of Erundu Combined School, highlighted the critical role of sport in education. He stressed that sport contributes to both physical and mental development, improves discipline and academic performance, and teaches life skills essential for success beyond the classroom. Immanuel praised the Real Madrid Foundation for introducing global expertise and inspiration to Namibian learners, while calling for greater investment in school sports infrastructure and qualified educators.

Participants have already begun training sessions focused on position-specific skills, including attacking, midfield, defensive, and goalkeeping roles. Alongside technical instruction, the clinic emphasises character building and personal development.

The programme continues in Oshakati until 19 June before moving to Omuthiya, Oshikoto Region, from 22–26 June 2026, reinforcing Namibia’s commitment to youth empowerment through sport.
