Windhoek Councillors Highlight Partnerships in Education and RRecycling. City of Windhoek councillors today toured several educational and recycling facilities, underscoring the importance of partnerships in driving community development. The visits included initiatives supported by the European Union and sister cities such as Bremen, reflecting international collaboration in local projects.
Speaking during the tour, Christopher Eita, the City’s Manager for External Relations, emphasized the transformative impact of these facilities. “These facilities are close to our hearts. We appreciate our sister cities and funders. We’ve seen real change, like turning a white elephant building into an ECD centre, and waste recycling becoming an income-generating mechanism,” he said.
The councillors’ tour highlighted how these facilities contribute to sustainability, education, and community empowerment. By combining resources from local government, international partners, and community stakeholders, Windhoek is creating opportunities that address social needs while promoting environmental responsibility.
The initiative demonstrates how collaboration can transform challenges into solutions, turning unused spaces into vibrant centres of learning and recycling into a source of income. The City reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening such partnerships to build a more inclusive and sustainable urban environment.
