Windhoek Strengthens Local Governance Through New PPartnerships. The City of Windhoek today hosted a joint signing ceremony to formalize new Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and renew existing agreements with local authorities and strategic partners, reinforcing its role as a leader in collaborative governance.

A key highlight of the event was the signing of a new partnership with Kosmos Digital Namibia Limited, a move aimed at advancing responsible citizenship and enhancing community policing. Through its COPPS 94.1 radio platform, Kosmos Digital Namibia has long provided a direct communication channel between the Windhoek City Police Service, residents, and visitors, making it a valued partner in crime prevention and public awareness.

In addition to this new collaboration, Windhoek renewed MoUs with the Usakos Town Council and the Gochas Village Council, while also welcoming fresh partnerships with the Grootfontein Municipality and the Koes Village Council. These agreements underscore the capital’s commitment to fostering inter-municipal cooperation and harmony across Namibia.

The MoUs are designed to strengthen multiple areas of local governance, including infrastructure development, human capital growth, economic and community development, resource management, and waste management. By aligning efforts with sister local authorities, Windhoek aims to improve service delivery and enhance the quality of life for communities across the country.

City officials emphasized that these partnerships reflect a shared vision of sustainable development and inclusive growth, ensuring that Namibia’s municipalities continue to work together toward common goals.
