Regional Talent Shines as Deputy Minister Ballotti Attends Beach Wrestling Event in Swakopmund. A vibrant display of athleticism and community spirit unfolded at the Swakopmund Mole, where Honourable Dino Ballotti, Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture (MEIYSAC), attended a beach wrestling competition hosted by the Namibian Wrestling Federation. The event brought together young athletes from five regions, highlighting the sport’s growing reach and the dedication behind its development.
Participants from Kavango, Otjozondjupa, Khomas, Hardap and Erongo stepped onto the sand to compete in a series of matches that drew strong interest from spectators and local supporters. Their performances reflected not only rising talent but also the expanding footprint of wrestling as a competitive code in Namibia’s youth sporting landscape.
During his engagement at the event, Honourable Ballotti met with athletes and coaches, acknowledging the hours of preparation and commitment required to participate at this level. He expressed appreciation for the enthusiasm shown by the wrestlers and noted the value of platforms that give young people opportunities to compete, learn and grow within structured sporting environments.
Also present was Namibia Sport Commission Administrator, Mr. Freddy Mwiya, who highlighted the importance of events like this in strengthening regional participation. He commended the Namibian Wrestling Federation for its continued efforts to introduce innovative and accessible sporting initiatives that encourage youth involvement across diverse communities.
