NAMCOR Launches Second Phase of Public Consultations for Venus Field Development. The National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (NAMCOR), in collaboration with international energy partners, will begin the second phase of public consultations for the proposed offshore Venus Field development from 3 to 20 November 2025.
This round of consultations marks a crucial stage in the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) process for the project, located in block PEL0056/Block 2913B, approximately 320 kilometers southwest of Lüderitz.
NAMCOR is working alongside its joint venture partners — TotalEnergies EP Namibia B.V. (TEEPNA), QatarEnergy International E&P LLC, and Impact Oil & Gas — to ensure the process remains transparent and inclusive.
Earlier this year, the first round of ESIA consultations was successfully completed in Keetmanshoop, Bethanie, Lüderitz, Oranjemund, Swakopmund, Henties Bay, and Walvis Bay. These sessions brought together community members, local authorities, schools, and other stakeholders eager to understand the project’s scope and environmental considerations.
NAMCOR stated that the upcoming consultations will provide an opportunity to share findings from the studies that were initiated earlier in the year. “This second phase is aimed at engaging communities on the outcomes of the previously listed studies and gathering additional input before finalizing the ESIA,” the corporation noted.
The ESIA process plays a vital role in identifying potential environmental and social impacts linked to the Venus Field development and ensuring that any concerns from the public are properly addressed before project approval.
