Pupkewitz Foundation Donates N$400,000 in Ambulance Repairs to Strengthen Namibia’s Health Response. The Pupkewitz Foundation has completed the repair of 13 ambulances for the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS), contributing nearly N$400,000 worth of work at no cost to the government.

The initiative comes as part of the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to enhance Namibia’s healthcare delivery capacity by ensuring that emergency vehicles remain safe, reliable, and fully operational.

Upon inspection, the ambulances were found to have various mechanical issues, some requiring major and urgent repairs. Among the key components restored were clutches—four of which were completely replaced—along with new wheel bearings, starters, steering racks, and power steering systems. These repairs significantly improve the vehicles’ handling and performance during emergency operations.

The Foundation also replaced worn-out batteries, bulbs, and lights to ensure maximum visibility for both day and night response. Shock absorbers were renewed to enhance comfort and stability, while knuckle seals were fitted to prevent differential oil leaks that could cause wheel bearing failure.

In addition, all ambulances underwent full servicing, including oil and filter changes, and were each equipped with complete emergency toolkits, addressing a critical gap identified during inspection. Brake pads were also replaced where necessary to ensure safe braking capability.

The Ministry of Health and Social Services commended the Pupkewitz Foundation’s technical team for their professionalism and dedication throughout the project.

“This initiative directly strengthens the Ministry’s capacity to deliver timely medical care and respond effectively to emergencies,” said a Ministry spokesperson.

The Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to supporting essential services that improve community wellbeing. The repaired ambulances are now fully roadworthy and ready for deployment across health facilities nationwide.
