City of Windhoek Reviews NFA Land Application for Katutura Technical Centre Project. Windhoek Mayor, Councillor Ndeshihafela Larandja, led a City of Windhoek delegation to the Namibia Football Association (NFA) headquarters in Katutura today for a follow-up meeting regarding the association’s land application. The engagement aimed to review progress on the NFA’s 2024 request for either a donation or a 99-year lease of Erf 340, located along Richard Kamuhuka Street.
The NFA’s proposed development plans for Erf 340 were presented to the Mayor and her team, detailing a modern Technical Centre that will include a hotel, restaurants, and football development facilities. The envisioned project seeks to support sports infrastructure growth and enhance football administration and training within Namibia.
The City’s Strategic Executive for Housing, Property Management, and Human Settlement, Faniel Maanda, confirmed that the NFA’s application has been scheduled for discussion at the upcoming Management Committee meeting. “Depending on the outcome of the committee’s deliberations, the submission will move forward to the full Council meeting for a final decision,” Maanda explained.
NFA General Secretary, Cassius Tarsisius Moetie, highlighted that the association is operating under a strict deadline set by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA). The deadline requires the NFA to secure land ownership or a long-term lease to unlock approximately USD 4 million in funding allocated for the Technical Centre’s development.
Mayor Larandja reaffirmed the City’s commitment to transparent collaboration with all stakeholders, emphasizing that decisions on public land must balance community benefit, strategic value, and developmental goals.
