Minister Steenkamp Leads Preparations for National Skills Competition 2025 at MTC Dome. The Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts, and Culture, Hon. Sanet Steenkamp, carried out a preparatory site inspection at the MTC Dome in Swakopmund, where the National Skills Competition 2025 (NSCS2025) will be hosted.

Hon. Steenkamp was joined by a high-level delegation, including the Deputy Minister, Hon. Dino Ballotti, Hon. Natalia Goagoses, Governor of the Erongo Region Dr. Lisho Mundia, and senior officials such as Mr. Erick Fundula Nenghwanya, Deputy Executive Director for Higher Education, Training, Research, and Innovation. The Chief Executive Officer of the Namibia Training Authority (NTA) also participated, alongside representatives from various training institutions.

The inspection underscored the importance of ensuring that facilities and logistical arrangements are in place ahead of the competition, which is recognised as one of the country’s leading platforms for advancing technical and vocational education and training (TVET).

The National Skills Competition serves as a stage for Namibia’s youth to demonstrate practical skills across multiple disciplines while promoting innovation, professionalism, and excellence in vocational fields. It also plays a role in aligning Namibia’s skills development agenda with the broader economic goals of industrialisation and employment creation.

The presence of national leaders and training authorities at the inspection reaffirmed government’s commitment to elevating skills development as a priority area. Preparations at the MTC Dome are expected to set the tone for a successful event that will not only showcase local talent but also strengthen partnerships between education stakeholders and industry players.
