9-Year-Old Zion Erasmus Wins 2025 Namibian Champion Boerewors Title. Namibia has a new boerewors champion, and this year’s winner has made history. The 2025 Shoprite & Checkers Namibian Champion Boerewors Competition crowned its champions, with 9-year-old Zion Erasmus walking away as the youngest ever winner of the national contest.
Zion impressed the judges with his unique boerewors recipe, securing the top spot and earning N$150,000 in shopping vouchers. His achievement not only brought pride to his family but also highlighted the growing involvement of young talent in Namibia’s culinary competitions.
The second-place award went to Svenson Le Roux, who took home N$100,000 in shopping vouchers, while third place was claimed by Queen Luumbila with a prize of N$50,000. All three winners were celebrated for their creativity, passion, and skill in perfecting a proudly Namibian favorite.
In addition to this year’s prizes, Shoprite Namibia announced an exciting initiative for 2026. Every school that has a learner qualifying for the Top 15 round of the competition will receive a N$50,000 shopping voucher contribution. This move aims to encourage greater youth participation and support schools across the country.
Shoppers can also look forward to tasting Zion’s winning recipe firsthand, as his boerewors will soon be available in Shoprite and Checkers stores nationwide.
The annual Champion Boerewors Competition has become one of Namibia’s most anticipated food contests, shining a spotlight on both seasoned and emerging talent. Zion’s remarkable victory shows that innovation and tradition can go hand in hand — even in the hands of the youngest competitors.
