Windhoek Deputy Mayor Leads by Example on World Blood Donor Day. In recognition of World Blood Donor Day on 14 June 2025, the Deputy Mayor of Windhoek, Her Worship Councillor Clemencia Hanases, made a meaningful contribution by donating blood at the headquarters of the Blood Transfusion Service of Namibia.
This symbolic act formed part of a national call to action, urging Namibians to embrace blood donation as a life-saving measure. The Deputy Mayor’s participation underscored the importance of civic leadership in promoting health and community well-being.
Upon completing her donation, she was awarded a certificate of participation—an acknowledgment not only of her contribution, but also of the broader impact such gestures can have when echoed across the country.
World Blood Donor Day is observed annually to raise awareness about the need for safe blood and to thank voluntary donors for their selfless gifts. Blood donations are crucial for treating trauma, conducting surgeries, managing cancer treatments, and supporting patients with chronic illnesses.
Health officials continue to stress the importance of building a reliable national blood supply through regular voluntary donations. Events such as this serve as a reminder that saving lives can start with a simple but powerful act of kindness.
