Residents of Opuwo, Okangwati, Orumana, and nearby areas have been without electricity since Monday, 17 March 2025, at 13:30, due to a suspected fault caused by heavy rainfall. NamPower, the country’s electricity provider, has confirmed the outage and assured the public that efforts are underway to restore power.
NamPower technical teams are currently on-site, working to inspect and repair the affected power lines. However, their progress has been hindered by persistent heavy rains and flooding in the region. The company has not yet provided an estimated time for the restoration of power.
NamPower has urged residents to treat all power lines and electrical points as live during the outage, as power restoration may occur without prior notice.
