City of Windhoek Strengthens Local Partnerships with Nine Authorities and Heritage Council. The City of Windhoek has formalized new Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with nine local authorities and the National Heritage Council, reinforcing partnerships aimed at driving sustainable development and collaboration across various sectors.
The city signed new agreements with Aroab Village Council, Bethanie Village Council, Kalkrand Village Council, and Omaruru Municipality while renewing existing agreements with Aranos Town Council, Otjinene Village Council, Outjo Municipality, Otavi Town Council, and Opuwo Town Council.
Each MoU establishes a framework for joint initiatives, with a focus on waste management, economic development, urban planning, environmental sustainability, and support for small businesses. Additionally, human resource development and capacity-building efforts will be strengthened to improve municipal service delivery.
The agreement with the National Heritage Council is specifically designed to preserve Namibia’s cultural, historical, and architectural heritage, ensuring that Windhoek and its surrounding areas maintain their rich historical significance.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Windhoek Mayor Ndeshihafela Larandja emphasized that these partnerships extend beyond symbolic gestures, serving as active frameworks for cooperation. She highlighted their role in addressing shared urban and economic challenges while fostering regional development.
By aligning resources and expertise, these agreements aim to create more resilient and self-sufficient municipalities, ensuring that local communities benefit from enhanced infrastructure, economic growth, and sustainable governance practices.
