Youth Leaders Unite at Windhoek Country Club for Closing of CYC Dialogue. On 8 August 2025, the week-long Commonwealth Youth Council (CYC) Dialogue drew to a close at the Windhoek Country Club and Resort in Namibia. The event gathered over 100 youth delegates and leaders representing diverse regions of the Commonwealth to engage in discussions and collaborative efforts focused on youth empowerment and sustainable development.
The closing ceremony was led by the Right Honorable Dr. Elijah Ngurare, Prime Minister of the Republic of Namibia, alongside Hon. Sanet Steenkamp and Hon. Dino Ballotti, Minister and Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture. Together, they recognized the efforts and insights shared throughout the Dialogue, highlighting the vital role of young people in shaping the future.
The event showcased a variety of youth-led initiatives and solutions aimed at overcoming social and economic barriers. Delegates also had the opportunity to expand their networks and build partnerships across sectors, emphasizing the importance of collective action within the Commonwealth framework.
A key moment of the evening was the signing and handing over of the Windhoek Declaration, a document outlining a shared commitment to advancing inclusivity and sustainability across Commonwealth nations. The ceremony was complemented by a Cultural Gala Evening that celebrated the rich heritage and creativity of the participants.
The CYC Dialogue provided a platform for open exchange and innovative thinking, underscoring the growing influence of youth voices in global decision-making processes. The week’s activities reflected a collective aspiration to drive progress through collaboration and to ensure that young people remain at the forefront of shaping policies that affect their communities.
