Windhoek Mayor Hosts Delegations to Strengthen Local Authority and Private Sector Collaboration. The Office of the Mayor was a hub of engagement on Tuesday morning as Her Worship Cllr. Ndeshihafela Larandja welcomed four courtesy visits aimed at deepening inter-local authority cooperation and reinforcing public-private sector collaboration.
Mayor Larandja hosted delegations from the sister towns of Okahandja and Okakarara, led by their respective mayors, Cllr. Beatrice Kotungondo and Cllr. Asnath Kavetuna Jazukuka. The meetings focused on shared development challenges and opportunities for municipal collaboration.
Mayor Kotungondo of Okahandja requested assistance with waste management, including the provision of unused equipment and skip containers, as well as help with infrastructure at taxi ranks. Meanwhile, Mayor Jazukuka of Okakarara sought technical support and machinery to address the town’s deteriorating drainage system and also requested advice on improving water treatment processes.
In addition to the local authority delegations, the Mayor received representatives from Minet Namibia Insurance Brokers, led by Managing Director Antoinette van Wyk. As the City’s current insurance broker, Minet’s visit aimed to reaffirm their partnership and explore new areas of collaboration.
The fourth meeting welcomed First National Bank (FNB) Namibia’s Public Sector Banking team. The bank reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the City’s flagship initiatives, including the annual Christmas lunch and tree planting campaigns.
Mayor Larandja assured both Okahandja and Okakarara of Windhoek’s willingness to support them, emphasizing the importance of operationalizing existing Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) for effective cooperation. She also expressed appreciation to private sector partners for their continued engagement and contributions to the City’s development agenda.
