This year’s carnival is themed ‘Mensch! Ärgere Dich nicht!’ (‘Stay calm and carry on!’), a message that Windhoek Councillor Jürgen Hecht emphasized as a symbol of resilience and unity. During the key handover, he highlighted the festival’s growth beyond its original cultural roots, stating, “WIKA has grown to be an event crossing all cultural borders and may that be sustained and nurtured by the participation of all the people of Windhoek and indeed the country. May the WIKA carnival always remain one of the most anticipated social highlights in our beautiful city.”

Following the ceremony, the festivities continued with a street procession along Independence Avenue, featuring branded floats from event sponsors distributing sweets and gifts to spectators.

The WIKA 2025 celebrations commenced on 27 March with an elegant night ball and will conclude with a grand finale music and dance festival on 6 April 2025.ren and adults.
