Swakop Uranium Celebrates Employees’ Completion of 2025 Comrades Marathon. Swakop Uranium proudly recognized the achievements of four of its employees who completed the 2025 Comrades Marathon on Sunday, 9 June. The event drew more than 20,000 runners from around the world to participate in the renowned ultramarathon, known as one of the oldest and most demanding endurance races globally.
This year’s edition was a “Down Run” covering 89.98 kilometers from Pietermaritzburg to Durban in South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal province. The challenging route tested runners’ stamina and perseverance over the nearly 90-kilometer course.
Swakop Uranium employees who finished the race are:
- Winnie Mukupuki — 9 hours, 46 minutes, 12 seconds
- Uaatjo Tjatjitua — 10 hours, 21 minutes, 42 seconds
- Hendrik Lacock — 11 hours, 16 minutes, 39 seconds
- Tangeni Kambunga — 11 hours, 37 minutes, 56 seconds
On Friday, 13 June, a welcoming ceremony was held to honour these finishers. Mr. Patrick Chizabulyo, Vice President of Human Resources and OOC, represented the Swakop Uranium Executive Management in congratulating the runners. He acknowledged their commitment and resilience and highlighted the pride they bring to the Swakop Uranium community.
The company shared its congratulations and expressed admiration for the endurance demonstrated by the employees throughout the race.
