Suiderohof Primary School Expands Facilities with New Classrooms. On 26 February 2026, the Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture (MEIYSAC), Dr. Sanet L. Steenkamp, officially unveiled a new block of three classrooms and an ablution facility at Suiderohof Primary School in Windhoek.
The construction, valued at close to N$2 million, was funded through voluntary financial contributions from parents and guardians. The initiative reflects the strong commitment of the school community to investing in education and addressing infrastructure needs.
In her keynote address, Dr. Steenkamp expressed gratitude to the school management, parents, and stakeholders for their dedication. She urged the business community and other partners to emulate such efforts, emphasizing that the ministry remains committed to expanding school infrastructure across the country.
School Principal Alna Similo applauded parents and guardians for their unwavering support, noting that “consistency builds excellency.” She highlighted the importance of community involvement in sustaining educational development.
Khomas Regional Director Paulus Nghikembua echoed similar sentiments, describing the new facilities as the result of hard work, commitment, and strategic thinking. He encouraged learners to study diligently while avoiding negative influences such as bullying and drugs.
Suiderohof Primary currently serves 1,410 learners. The addition of three classrooms, with a combined capacity of 132 learners, will help alleviate overcrowding and improve the learning environment.
The unveiling ceremony was attended by teachers, learners, parents, guardians, school board members, and education stakeholders, marking a milestone in the school’s journey toward providing quality education supported by strong community partnerships.
