Oshana Governor Donates School Uniforms to Learners in Uuvudhiya

Oshana Governor Donates School Uniforms to Learners in Uuvudhiya. The Governor of Oshana Region, Hofni Iipinge, on Friday donated 22 full sets of school uniforms to learners at Engombe Junior Primary School in the Uuvudhiya Constituency, in an initiative aimed at supporting vulnerable learners in remote areas.

The handover took place at the school, where the uniforms were presented to learners identified as being in need of additional support. The donation forms part of broader efforts to assist children from disadvantaged backgrounds to attend school with dignity and confidence.S

Speaking during the donation, Governor Iipinge highlighted the importance of ensuring that all learners have access to basic necessities required for schooling. He noted that school uniforms play a role in promoting equality among learners and helping them focus on their education without the added pressure of inadequate clothing.

The governor reiterated that initiatives of this nature are intended to complement existing efforts by families, schools and education authorities to support learner wellbeing, particularly in rural and hard-to-reach communities. He emphasised that supporting education remains a shared responsibility that requires cooperation between leadership, communities and institutions.

School officials at Engombe Junior Primary School welcomed the donation, describing it as timely support for learners and their families. They noted that such contributions help ease the burden on households that face economic challenges, especially in remote constituencies where access to resources can be limited.

Parents and guardians also expressed appreciation for the assistance, saying the uniforms would help ensure that learners attend school regularly and feel included alongside their peers. For many families, the cost of school uniforms remains a significant challenge at the start of each academic year.

The donation reflects ongoing efforts by regional leadership to address social needs at community level. While modest in scale, the gesture underscores the role of targeted interventions in improving learning conditions for vulnerable children.

Governor Iipinge encouraged continued collaboration between government leaders, educators and community members to identify and respond to the needs of learners across the region. He added that investing in children’s education is an important step towards strengthening communities and supporting long-term development.
