Old Mutual Namibia Launches N$1 Million Chair and Desk Initiative to Support Schools. Old Mutual Namibia has announced a N$1 million investment into the 2025 Chair and Desk Initiative, a programme aimed at improving classroom infrastructure in selected regions across the country. The initiative focuses on restoring dignity to learning by providing brand-new and refurbished school furniture.
Schools located in Kavango East, Kavango West, Khomas, and Hardap regions are eligible to apply for support. In each of these regions, one school will receive newly manufactured classroom furniture, while another will benefit from repairs to existing chairs and desks.
The initiative is part of Old Mutual’s ongoing commitment to supporting education and creating a conducive environment for learners. “Every child deserves a functional desk and chair,” said a representative from the Old Mutual Foundation. “Through this initiative, we are addressing basic but critical needs in our schools to support teaching and learning.”
Interested schools must submit their applications online via the official platform: https://forms.office.com/r/T47e3uuttT?origin=lprLink. The application window closes on 30 May 2025.
The Chair and Desk Initiative highlights how private sector investment can play a vital role in uplifting education infrastructure, especially in underserved regions. By focusing on both new furniture and the refurbishment of existing items, the programme takes a sustainable approach to resource management.
For school administrators and community leaders, this is a timely opportunity to enhance the physical learning environment and, in turn, improve student morale and academic engagement.
