Old Mutual Foundation Strengthens Educational Support with Chair and Desk Donations in //Kharas Region. The Old Mutual Foundation has expanded its Chair and Desk Initiative to the //Kharas Region, delivering essential classroom furniture to two schools in an ongoing effort to improve learning environments across Namibia.
Aussenkehr Primary School received 100 brand-new chairs and desks, while 80 restored units were handed over to Kaitsi!gubeb Combined School in Berseba. These contributions form part of the Foundation’s nationwide program, launched in 2023, to address classroom furniture shortages in schools.
Since its inception, the Chair and Desk Initiative has benefited 12 schools across six regions, including Kunene, Zambezi, Omaheke, //Kharas, Oshana, and Erongo. The program aims to support learners by providing safe and functional furniture, contributing to more conducive classroom settings.
Ashante Manetti, Marketing and Old Mutual Foundation Retail Manager, reaffirmed the Foundation’s focus on education. “Every child deserves a comfortable and equipped classroom to support their learning journey. Through this initiative, we are proud to make a difference in the lives of learners and will continue supporting education across Namibia,” said Manetti.
Suzie Kadhikwa, Principal of Aussenkehr Primary School, expressed appreciation for the donation. “This contribution benefits not only our learners but also the entire community. It enhances learning outcomes and promotes sustainable classroom environments,” Kadhikwa said.
Magrietha van der Brooks, Principal of Kaitsi!gubeb Combined School, also thanked Old Mutual for improving their learning spaces, recognising the positive impact on both students and staff.
The Foundation acknowledged the Okakarara Vocational Training Centre for its role in supporting the project. Looking ahead, Old Mutual plans to announce the 2025 beneficiary schools and regions as the initiative continues.
