NFCPT Engages Kavango East Leaders Ahead of 13th National Fish Consumption Day in Rundu

NFCPT Engages Kavango East Leaders Ahead of 13th National Fish Consumption Day in Rundu. The Namibia Fish Consumption Promotion Trust (NFCPT) officially introduced the 13th edition of the National Fish Consumption Day (NFCD) during a high-level briefing with the Kavango East regional leadership on 23 June 2025. The meeting, held at the Governor’s Office in Rundu, marked the beginning of preparations for the national event scheduled to take place in the region this September.

This year, Rundu will serve as the host for the NFCD—a national initiative aimed at promoting the consumption and trade of fish across Namibia’s regions. The campaign not only highlights the nutritional benefits of fish but also reinforces its role in improving local economies and livelihoods.

NFCPT emphasized that the upcoming celebration will incorporate both awareness and social impact elements. In addition to encouraging healthier diets, the event forms part of the Trust’s corporate social investment (CSI) efforts by rallying support from public and private stakeholders to address pressing educational needs within the host region.

As part of the build-up to the main event, a series of activities are planned, including a stakeholder breakfast and a gala dinner in August. These engagements will foster collaboration among industry players and mobilize resources ahead of the Market Day celebration in September.

The NFCD continues to serve as a key platform for community engagement, health promotion, and economic development. As preparations move forward, the Trust encourages stakeholders from across sectors to support the campaign and join the call to bring more fish to more Namibian tables.
