Netball Namibia Expands Global Presence with Ambitious Growth Plans. Netball Namibia is working to establish itself as a strong competitor both regionally and internationally. Over the next five years, the organization aims to expand its talent pool by focusing on grassroots development and enhancing training facilities. This long-term vision requires support from various stakeholders, including the government, private sector, administrators, and athletes.
Recently, two Namibian netball players, Cornelia Mupenda and Mwale Mulenamaswe, were selected to compete in Singapore’s Netball Super League. Their participation marks a significant milestone for Namibian netball, as it reflects the growing recognition of the country’s talent. Playing alongside international athletes will provide them with valuable experience that can contribute to the development of netball in Namibia.
As members of the national team, the Debmarine Desert Jewels, their involvement in the league not only benefits their individual growth but also strengthens the overall competitiveness of Namibian netball. They are scheduled to travel to Singapore on 24 February and return on 24 March, joining one of the six elite clubs in the league.
Opportunities like this are expected to inspire young athletes, showing them that competing on an international level is achievable. Exposure to top-tier leagues helps players refine their skills, bringing back insights that can elevate the national team’s performance.
Netball Namibia envisions a future where the country consistently competes for titles and fosters a strong netball culture. By continuously investing in development and international exposure, the federation aims to create an environment where young players can thrive and contribute to the sport’s long-term success.
