Ndeshihafela Larandja Elected as Windhoek Mayor. Ndeshihafela Larandja, a member of the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC), has been elected as the new mayor of Windhoek.
Her election follows several unsuccessful attempts by city councillors to appoint political leaders for the City of Windhoek.
Larandja, who served as Chairperson of the City’s Management Committee three years ago, will hold the mayoral position until the end of November. She stated that the council would focus on prioritizing unified efforts to address key issues such as basic service delivery, land allocation, and housing development.Clemencia Hanases of the Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) was unanimously chosen as deputy mayor.

A new management committee was also elected through a secret ballot. Illse Keister from the Affirmative Repositioning (AR) Movement was appointed as chairperson of the committee. She will lead a team that includes Jurgen Hecht (IPC), Fransina Kahungu (Swapo), Joseph Uapingene (NUDO), and Bernadus Araeb (IPC).
Keister is among the AR members set to join parliament.
