NamRA Recovers N$3.4 Million Through Whistleblower Reports. The Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA) has announced the successful recovery of N$3.4 million through reports received via its Whistleblowing Hotline. The initiative, launched to combat tax evasion, fraud, and unethical financial practices, underscores NamRA’s commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in tax administration.

The Whistleblowing Hotline, which became operational in May 2024, is independently managed by Deloitte Namibia. Since its launch, the platform has received over 60 reports addressing concerns such as fraud, corruption, tax evasion, alleged money laundering, and drug smuggling.

NamRA revealed that its enforcement efforts have led to an assessment of N$15.8 million, with N$3.4 million recovered from three companies in November and December 2024 alone. The agency views this milestone as a reflection of the hotline’s effectiveness in promoting compliance, ethical governance, and responsible tax administration.

Encouraging taxpayers and stakeholders to continue using the Whistleblowing Hotline, NamRA emphasized the public’s role in upholding integrity within Namibia’s tax system by reporting suspicious activities. To protect whistleblowers, the agency ensures that all reports are handled with strict confidentiality, allowing individuals to report anonymously and without fear of retaliation.

To further strengthen tax compliance, NamRA continues to urge businesses and individuals to fulfill their tax obligations, reinforcing the importance of ethical financial conduct.
