NamPower Strengthens Governance with New Ethics Awareness Campaign. NamPower has officially launched its Ethics Awareness Campaign, introducing employees to the company’s new Ethics Strategy, Ethics Code, and the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy. The initiative aims to strengthen integrity, accountability, and transparency across all levels of the organisation.
Speaking at the launch, NamPower Board Chairperson Laurence Kavendjii highlighted the importance of ethics in achieving effective governance and service delivery. He noted that as a commercial public enterprise, NamPower plays a crucial role in advancing Namibia’s economic goals and cannot operate efficiently without a strong ethical foundation.
“Ethics form the indispensable foundation of good governance,” said Kavendjii. “As we launch the Ethics Awareness Campaign, I want to emphasise that unethical behaviour directly undermines the effectiveness of the State to promote competitiveness and sustainable development.”
He added that the campaign aligns with Pillar 4 of Namibia’s Sixth National Development Plan (NDP6), which calls for cultivating a culture of integrity, ethical behaviour, accountability, transparency, and fairness in public service — including the provision of electricity.
Kavendjii stressed that ethical conduct must begin at the top, with leadership setting the tone for all employees. “Both the board and executive management must embody ethical values to ensure the continued security of electricity supply to the nation,” he said.
He further urged all NamPower employees to make morally defensible decisions that reflect the company’s commitment to governance excellence and service quality.
