Namport, Nedbank Namibia, and Powerhouse Cycling Club Launch Landmark Cycling Event. A major new sporting event has been unveiled as Namport, Nedbank Namibia, and Powerhouse Cycling Club join forces to launch the Namport Nedbank PH Challenge. The event, set to take place in Lüderitz on May 2–3, 2025, and Walvis Bay on November 1–2, 2025, will bring together cyclists from across the country to compete in road and mountain bike races.

The announcement was made at Sea View Restaurant in Lüderitz, where the Lüderitz Crayfish Festival Trust officially endorsed the event, cementing its place in the town’s annual festival lineup.

The event aims to promote cycling at all levels while encouraging healthy and active lifestyles. It has received sponsorship from Namport and Nedbank Namibia, demonstrating their commitment to community development, wellness, and sports.

Speaking at the launch, Namport’s Manager for Marketing and Stakeholder Engagement, Cliff Shikuambi, emphasized the broader impact of the event. “This challenge represents our shared vision for fostering community engagement and promoting healthy lifestyles across Namibia. Our contribution will continue annually for the next three years.”

A Race for All LevelsThe cycling challenge will feature:

  • Mountain Bike Race: 56km (advanced riders)
  • Road Race: 50km and 100km distances
  • Running Events: 5km, 10km, and 21km races

Nedbank Namibia Managing Director, Martha Murorua, highlighted the event’s significance for Lüderitz, stating: “Lüderitz is on the cusp of transformation, with the green hydrogen economy bringing new opportunities. This cycling event symbolizes progress, resilience, and a commitment to the town’s bright future.”

The Mayor of Lüderitz, Councillor Phillippus Balhao, urged the local community to support the event, encouraging volunteers to help with logistics.
