Namport Hosts Namibian Football Star Deon Hotto at Walvis Bay Port. The Namibian Ports Authority (Namport) proudly welcomed national footballer Deon Hotto Kavendji and his family for a special visit to the Port of Walvis Bay earlier today.
Hotto, widely regarded as one of Namibia’s top sporting talents, currently plays as a midfielder for Orlando Pirates in South Africa’s Premier Division and represents the Namibia national team. His visit to the port was met with enthusiasm and admiration from Namport staff and the broader Walvis Bay community.
Born on 29 October 1990, Hotto rose to national prominence in May 2015, when he scored two decisive goals in the COSAFA Cup final, helping Namibia secure its first-ever international football trophy. His achievements continue to inspire the country’s youth and sports community.
During the port visit, Hotto and his family were given a tour of the harbour facilities and briefed on Namport’s role in driving trade, logistics, and national development. The visit served not only as a courtesy call but also as a celebration of local excellence in both sport and industry.
Namport expressed appreciation for Hotto’s continued contribution to national pride and unity through sport. “It is an honour to welcome a national icon who has carried Namibia’s name with distinction on the international stage,” said a Namport spokesperson.
As one of Namibia’s most recognizable sports ambassadors, Hotto’s visit to Walvis Bay port was both symbolic and celebratory—highlighting how success in sport and national development can walk hand in hand.
