Namibia’s Young Innovators Shine at Annual STEAM Expo in Windhoek. The annual Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) Expo, hosted by the Bank in partnership with Mindsinaction STEAM Centre, recently showcased the creativity and problem-solving skills of young Namibian learners. Held in Windhoek, the event featured 240 participants, with 20 talented learners from five schools presenting groundbreaking solutions to real-world challenges.

Among the standout innovations were a self-warming lunchbox, a human screening detector, a Namibian language translator, and an energy-efficient stove. These projects demonstrated the ingenuity of learners in applying STEAM knowledge to develop practical solutions.

The competition culminated in the recognition of top-performing teams:

  • 🥇 Haimbili Haufiku SSS – Energy-Efficient Stove (N$8,000)
  • 🥈 Okakarara SS – Clothing App (N$6,000)
  • 🥉 P.I. Groenewald SS – Namibian Language Translator (N$4,000)
  • 🏅 Best Exhibitor: Caprivi SS – QR Code Payment System (N$2,000)

Delta Secondary School was among the participating schools, further emphasizing the broad engagement of educational institutions in promoting STEAM education.

Since its launch, this initiative has provided 480 learners from eight schools with essential STEAM skills, equipping them with knowledge and experience that can contribute to future technological advancements in Namibia. The event continues to serve as a platform for young innovators to explore their potential and develop solutions that address real-world needs.
