Namibia’s Nathan Chase Heads to Xterra World Championships in Italy. One of Namibia’s promising young triathletes, Nathan Chase, departed today for Molveno, Italy, where he will compete in the Xterra World Championships scheduled from Thursday to Sunday.
The national triathlon federation confirmed Chase’s participation, noting that this year’s competition will again feature the Junior (18–19 years) and Youth B (16–17 years) divisions, categories introduced in 2024 to expand opportunities for emerging athletes. Chase will represent Namibia among a strong international field.
The championship course will test athletes with a combination of endurance and technical skill. Competitors face a 750-metre swim, followed by a challenging 16-kilometre trail ride, and concluding with a 5-kilometre trail run. More than 126 male athletes from 23 nations are set to take part, reflecting the growing global reach and competitive depth of the event.
The Xterra World Championships are recognised as one of the premier off-road triathlon competitions, attracting both elite and developing athletes. For Chase, the event provides not only an opportunity to measure himself against international peers but also to gain valuable experience on a demanding course.
The federation highlighted the importance of international exposure for Namibian athletes, particularly in disciplines like triathlon where global competition is fierce. Participation in events such as Xterra is seen as an important step in building skills, resilience, and recognition for athletes on the world stage.
Chase’s journey to Italy has already drawn attention at home, with supporters following his progress closely as he prepares to represent the country in a highly competitive field.
