Namibia’s Debmarine Desert Jewels Crowned Champions at Inaugural UAE Netball Cup

Namibia’s Debmarine Desert Jewels Crowned Champions at Inaugural UAE Netball CCup. Namibia’s senior national netball team, the Debmarine Desert Jewels, etched their name into the record books on Saturday after clinching the gold medal at the inaugural United Arab Emirates (UAE) Netball Cup. The historic victory came after a tightly contested final against Singapore’s Vandas, ending with a 62–53 win for Namibia.

Held in Dubai, the tournament brought together international teams for a high-stakes competition aimed at showcasing talent and strengthening global netball ties. Namibia’s route to the final was marked by consistent performances, with the team demonstrating tactical discipline and sharp execution across all matches.

The final saw Namibia take control early, with strong defensive coordination and well-timed interceptions. Their strategic approach was anchored by standout performances, including that of Gomases—hailed by commentators as “the centre powerhouse.” Her long-range passes and on-court vision played a key role in breaking through Singapore’s defense, supplying the shooters with reliable feeds from deep within her own half.

Namibia’s win not only represents a proud moment for national sport but also signals the rising presence of Southern African netball on the international stage.

The Namibian Netball Association, together with sponsors and supporters, celebrated the win as a major milestone for the team’s development and regional representation in competitive netball.
