Namibian Defender Riaan !Hanamub Celebrates 100 PSL Appearances with AmaZulu FC. Namibian international Riaan !Hanamub reached a major career milestone on Saturday, making his 100th appearance for South African Premier League side AmaZulu FC during their 1-0 victory over Durban City. The 30-year-old left-back, now captain of the Durban-based club, reflected on his journey with pride and gratitude.

“It’s a huge honour and privilege to have played a century of games for AmaZulu,” !Hanamub said. “It feels amazing, the love shown to me by the club is massive.”

!Hanamub began his football journey in his hometown of Otavi with Touch & Go (2013–2015) before moving to Orlando Pirates in Windhoek, where his performances earned him a call-up to the Namibia national team under coach Ricardo Mannetti in 2016.

He transitioned to South African football in 2018, signing with Jomo Cosmos in the National First Division. After two seasons, his consistent performances attracted interest from Chippa United, where he played until 2022. Since joining AmaZulu, !Hanamub has become one of the most reliable defenders in the PSL, accumulating 167 appearances across all competitions, with three goals and 13 assists.

Discipline and self-care have been central to his success. “Discipline and dedication, also just looking after your body, man. It’s of utmost importance to take recovery protocols seriously,” he said.

!Hanamub’s career highlights include winning the Cosafa Cup with the Brave Warriors in 2015 and representing Namibia at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. Among his standout club memories, he cites the MTN 8 semi-final win over Kaizer Chiefs in 2022, which secured AmaZulu a place in the final.

As AmaZulu’s captain, !Hanamub embraces both the responsibilities and leadership growth that come with the role. He advises young players aspiring to follow in his footsteps to remain disciplined, consistent, and committed to learning.
